In Too Deep

The Jonah series continues this week with chapter two. Jonah has hit rock bottom at this point, and (spoiler alert) has been swallowed by a fish. Chapter two of the book of Jonah is mainly a prayer that Jonah writes out of his experience and the insight gained from it. It is well-established at this point that Jonah is trying to run from God. Yet he prays, and God hears him still. Jonah is at his wit’s end, he is dealing with the consequences of some questionable decisions he made and he cries out to God. Out of all the ways we run from God, curse God, ignore God, or even try to control God, God is still attentive to our despair, needs, desires, and well-being.
